Safaricom Unveils ‘Shangwe @25’ Promo to Celebrate 25 Years of Transforming Lives

Safaricom PLC has launched a nationwide promotion dubbed ‘Shangwe @25’ to celebrate 25 years of connecting and transforming lives in Kenya. The campaign aims to reward millions of customers with prizes while extending the celebration to communities through impactful social projects across the country.

As part of the promotion, 25 customers will each win KES 1 million, along with an additional KES 250,000 to fund a community project of their choice, ensuring that each win benefits both individuals and their communities.

In support of Kenya’s entrepreneurial spirit, 25 Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs) will each receive a Bajaj tricycle to boost business mobility, while 15 Medium and Large Enterprises will be awarded KES 500,000 each to support community projects.

Additionally, five SMEs will win stock worth KES 250,000 every week, further empowering small business owners.

Other prizes include airtime, data bundles, 5G routers, mobile devices, and instant M-PESA cash rewards ranging between KES 100 and KES 10,000.

Adding a festive twist, Safaricom will roll out the ‘Green Box’ experience during the holiday season, giving customers a chance to unwrap surprises ranging from devices to traditional festive treats such as chicken, goats, and sheep spreading cheer in homes across the country.

As we mark this milestone, we celebrate not just our journey but the millions of customers, partners, and communities who have made it possible,” said Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom Group CEO.

“‘Shangwe @25’ is our way of saying thank you and ensuring that when one customer wins, their community wins too.”

The promotion will feature regional launches and market activations across Kenya to engage customers and drive participation.

Customers can enter the promotion by transacting on M-PESA, sending money, paying for goods and services, redeeming or using Bonga Points, or purchasing Safaricom products such as data and voice bundles, digital products, or Home Fibre subscriptions. PostPay and Home Fibre Family Share customers are also eligible

Merchants can participate by purchasing, renewing, or reactivating business solutions, including Buy Goods and Pochi La Biashara. M-PESA agents who perform cash transactions
