Safaricom PLC has announced a KES 15 million platinum sponsorship for the 2025 Devolution Conference, underscoring its commitment to driving digital inclusion, powering smart governance, and enabling prosperity across Kenya’s 47 counties.

The three-day forum, taking place in Homa Bay County, runs under the theme “For the People, For Prosperity: Devolution as a Catalyst for Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice.” It marks 12 years since the inception of Kenya’s devolution system.

It brings together leaders, policymakers, development partners, private sector players, and citizens to reflect on achievements and chart future pathways for inclusive growth.

Safaricom CEO, Dr. Peter Ndegwa described the conference as a timely platform to explore how technology can enhance governance and improve service delivery.

“The 2025 Devolution Conference offers a timely opportunity to reflect on how technology can drive inclusion, improve governance, and transform service delivery across all 47 counties,” said Dr. Ndegwa. “Our ambition is to support county governments in creating smart, inclusive, and prosperous communities. We believe that by working together as public and private sectors, we can unlock the full potential of devolution.”

During the event, Safaricom will showcase a suite of digital solutions designed to address county-level challenges, including:

IoT for County Efficiency – digitising public utilities and fleet management to improve service delivery.

Digital Public Infrastructure for Payments – providing secure, transparent platforms for bursaries, school fees, and other county disbursements.

Financial Solutions – including Ziidi MMF and Tunza Mapato, which help individuals, particularly women, safeguard and grow their income.

The Devolution Conference, widely regarded as Kenya’s premier governance platform, offers stakeholders a chance to celebrate milestones while spotlighting new strategies for advancing equity, inclusion, and social justice across the country.
