Residents Raise Alarm Over Insecurity After Church Break-In in Kirinyaga

Residents of Kibingo Village in Kirinyaga County have raised concerns over rising insecurity following a break-in at a local church where equipment worth tens of thousands of shillings was stolen.

According to the Love of Jesus Ministry Church pastor, Mugendi, unknown individuals broke into the church on Wednesday night. The suspects reportedly gained entry by cutting through the mabati sheets of the church structure before making away with a concrete mixer valued at approximately Sh40,000.

The theft has caused unease among local residents, who say cases of insecurity appear to be on the rise in the area. Of particular concern is the proximity of the church to Kibingo Police Post, a factor residents believe should have deterred criminal activity.

Church members have condemned the incident, noting that the stolen equipment was being used for ongoing construction and development projects. They are now appealing to authorities to intensify patrols and investigations to recover the stolen items and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Police have since been notified of the incident and investigations are underway as residents call for enhanced security measures to curb further incidents.
