The public participation exercise on Finance Bill 2025 come to an end on Saturday. with the departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning meeting with government agencies.
The meeting focused on areas of concern by the various agencies ahead of the budget reading set for next week.
The public participation exercise concluded in Mombasa, meeting various government agencies and Principal Secretaries to dissect the Finance Bill 2025 and the implications therein on the various sectors
Tourism Principal Secretary John Ololtuaa who appeared before the Kuria Kimani led committee, sought to have all existing VAT exemptions applicable to the tourism sector retained. UPS legislators queried the hiked park entry fees which they attributed to the dwindling tourist numbers
The committee also met sports Principal Secretary as well as officials from the Kenya Revenue Authority. The committee has already held public participation sessions in 10 counties, and will now retreat to write its report that will be tabled in parliament ahead of the budget reading set for Thursday next week.
