President William Ruto has today handed over keys to 1,080 new homeowners at the New Mukuru Housing Estate, marking a significant milestone in the government’s Affordable Housing Program.
The handover, which took place at Lot 1 – Phase 1 of the housing project, reflects the administration’s continued efforts to provide decent and affordable homes for all Kenyans, especially low-income earners.
“This occasion is a true testament of the possibility of owning a home and building financial security,” said President Ruto during the handover ceremony. “Through the Affordable Housing Program, every Kenyan can invest in a property that appreciates over time and creates value for you and your family.”
He emphasized that the New Mukuru Housing Estate goes beyond just constructing houses. “This project is about reimagining urban life for low-income communities. It is about building dignity for every Kenyan living within this ecosystem,” he added.
The newly built estate offers a gated community setting, complete with essential amenities including daycare centres, retail shops, and green recreational spaces, aimed at fostering safe and inclusive living conditions.
President Ruto also visited one of the beneficiaries’ homes and officially unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the completion of Phase 1.
The New Mukuru Housing Estate is part of the broader Affordable Housing Program targeting the transformation of informal settlements and the creation of sustainable urban communities across Kenya
