Thousands of football fans in Nairobi and Kisumu enjoyed a memorable weekend of football, music and entertainment as Guinness brought the Premier League Trophy closer to Kenyan supporters through its Guinness Matchday experience.
The event, held on October 16 in Kisumu at Dondez and Berlin Lounge and on October 17 in Nairobi, gave fans a rare opportunity to see the iconic trophy up close, take photographs with it and enjoy live Premier League matches with fellow supporters.
Guinness, the Official Beer of the Premier League, transformed the venues into lively football hubs, complete with large screens and clear sound systems that allowed fans to follow every moment of the action in a charged atmosphere.
Supporters watched several exciting matches throughout the weekend. Chelsea beat Everton 2-0, while Liverpool secured a 2-1 victory over Brentford. Manchester City maintained their unbeaten record with a 3-2 win against Ipswich. Fulham and Arsenal also recorded 1-0 victories over Hull and Nottingham Forest, respectively, as Aston Villa defeated Newcastle 1-0.
The matches brought fans together in celebration, with cheers and excitement reflecting the strong passion for football among Kenyan supporters.
The experience also attracted official football fan clubs in both cities. Supporters of Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City gathered to watch their favourite teams, share their love for the game and capture memorable moments alongside the Premier League Trophy while enjoying Guinness.
Music and entertainment added to the celebrations, with performances from Khaligraph Jones, Wyre, DJ Joe Mfalme and Mista C. Their appearances kept the crowds entertained beyond the final whistle, turning the match screenings into a full weekend celebration of football and music.
“We are thrilled to bring the Premier League trophy back to Kenya, offering even more fans the opportunity to get extra close to football’s ultimate prize,” said Joy Murugi Guinness Brand Manager.
She said the trophy tour gave more Kenyan fans an opportunity to get closer to one of football’s most recognised prizes.
She added that Guinness’ partnership with the Premier League allows the brand to create memorable experiences for consumers through Guinness Matchday.
Murugi said the trophy tour also set the stage for an exciting season, with the brand looking forward to offering Kenyan supporters more Guinness Matchday experiences as the Premier League campaign continues.
Guinness thanked the fans who attended the events in Nairobi and Kisumu, saying their participation helped make the weekend a success and reaffirmed the brand’s commitment to bringing premium football experiences to Kenya.
