The National Police Service (NPS) has announced last-minute changes to the recruitment exercise for 10,000 police constables scheduled to take place on Monday across the country.

In a statement, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said adjustments have been made to the list of recruitment centres in Nairobi, Kajiado, and Narok counties.

According to Kanja, National Youth Service (NYS) graduates interested in joining the police have been encouraged to present themselves at sub-county recruitment centres or at the NYS headquarters in Nairobi to try their luck.

In Kajiado County, the recruitment will now be conducted at Ole Polos in Kajiado West Sub-County, while in Elangata Wuas Sub-County, the exercise will take place at the Deputy County Commissioner’s office. In Narok West Sub-County, the recruitment centre has been shifted to Ng’osuani.

Kanja said the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and enhance the capacity of the police service.

The recruitment will be conducted simultaneously in 422 designated centres across the country, with all applicants expected to report to their respective venues by 8:00 a.m.

Applicants are required to be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, possess valid national identification cards, and have attained a minimum grade of D+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). They must also be physically and medically fit, meeting the set height and health standards.

The Inspector General emphasized that the exercise will be free, fair, and open to all qualified Kenyans.

Meanwhile, Kanja held a meeting with senior police officers to strategize on maintaining security ahead of the festive season.
