NCBA has strengthened its commitment to sustainable community development with the donation of 24 water storage tanks, each with a capacity of 5,000 litres, to the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency (LVSWWDA).
The tanks mark the first tranche of a planned 200-unit donation aimed at improving access to clean and reliable water across the Nyanza region.
The tanks will be distributed to schools, markets, social and faith-based institutions across the eight counties under the agency’s jurisdiction.
Many of these institutions have long faced challenges accessing clean and consistent water supply gaps, NCBA aims to address through this intervention.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, NCBA Group Director for Corporate & Investment Banking, Tirus Mwithiga, said the initiative underscores the bank’s commitment to creating meaningful, long-term value for communities.
He noted that the project is part of NCBA’s Change the Story initiative, which focuses on environmental sustainability, financial empowerment, education, tree planting, and combating environmental degradation.
“This initiative addresses a fundamental need while laying the foundation for long-term regional development. This is how NCBA changes the story through action that improves lives today and supports growth for generations to come.
Our partnership with Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency reflects a shared vision for sustainability, strengthening the foundation for long-term regional development. It’s a program that will continue for years, showing NCBA’s commitment to people and the environment we operate in.” he said.
LVSWWDA CEO Jackline Kemunto welcomed the donation, describing it as a critical step toward enhancing water accessibility for underserved communities. “The first 24 of 200 water tanks will serve schools, hospitals, market centres, and community groups across the Lake Victoria South region. This is the foundation of a long-term partnership built on sustainability,” she said.
NCBA says the partnership reflects its strategy of strengthening public and private collaborations while deepening its Corporate Banking presence in the Western region.
