Driver Michuki Hinga and navigator Dennis Yaya emerged victorious in the 2WD Non-Turbo Senior Car category during the fifth round of the 2026 Shell AutoX Rally Championship held at Stoni Athi in Machakos County.
The action-packed event, organised by the 254 Motorsports Club, brought together drivers and young motorsport enthusiasts competing across several categories.
Hinga posted a winning time of 10:39 minutes, finishing ahead of Adriano Varese, who recorded 11:45 minutes, while Tariq Rashid completed the podium in 12:11 minutes.
Ankush Shah claimed the top spot in the 4WD Turbo Car Restricted category after clocking 09:41 minutes. He was followed by Amaan Ganatra at 09:49 minutes and Tinashe Gatimu at 20:46 minutes.
In the Cadet Junior Non-Turbo Buggy category, Eann Bengi emerged winner in 10:43 minutes, ahead of Andrea Tundo at 11:03 minutes and Aayan Azim at 11:10 minutes.
Speaking to the media, Vivo Energy Kenya Marketing Manager Joanne Nyaga said Shell’s partnership with the championship goes beyond brand visibility, highlighting its role in promoting motorsport talent and supporting the sport’s growing fan base in Kenya.
“Shell’s continued partnership with Autocross is about more than putting our name on a championship. It is about celebrating performance, supporting Kenyan motorsport talent and creating memorable experiences for the fans who make this sport what it is,” Nyaga said.
She added that the fifth edition provided another opportunity to showcase Shell’s performance credentials while supporting the people and passion behind Kenyan motorsport.
Vivo Energy Kenya, through its Shell brand, is the title sponsor of the seven-leg 2026 AutoX Rally Championship, which runs from February to November. The partnership marks the second consecutive year of Shell’s title sponsorship after its successful 2025 season.
Other notable results saw Myles O’Neal win the Alpha Junior Buggy category in 26:05 minutes, while Allan Bengi topped the Beta Junior Non-Turbo Buggy category in 12:29 minutes.
Nazim Shah won the Senior Non-Turbo Buggy category in 11:28 minutes, while Muzammil Mohamed took the 2WD Non-Turbo Junior Car category in 11:08 minutes.
In the Open Class, Javed Lota emerged winner with a time of 09:45 minutes, followed by Junaid Shah at 09:56 minutes and Ahil Khan at 10:17 minutes.
The Machakos round marked another competitive stage in the 2026 championship as drivers continue to battle for honours ahead of the remaining legs of the season.
