In the Kenyan market, LG Electronics East Africa has presented the LG InstaView Bottom Freezer refrigerator, thus positioning it as a means to solve the issue of food waste and related high energy costs that, in general, have been affecting households in the whole region.
At the Nairobi event, Donghun Lee, President of LG East Africa, stated that the situation faced by families in Africa, where low power supply, high electricity prices, and inefficient refrigerators could only be the leading causes of the problems, was behind the idea of creating an efficient and practical appliance.
“Storage is the main factor that leads to food loss, cutting the total percentage of food lost in Africa to more than 40. The continent consumes just half of its food production due to storage inefficiency,” Lee said.
“This is a product meeting the requirements of African families who want and need food to last longer while being aware of their energy consumption, making fresh foods last up to seven days while using less energy, thus not only cutting waste but also getting the value out of each shilling spent,” he added
While limiting the temperature to 349 litres, LG also includes the innovative InstaView panel as one of their technologies, a feature that allows users with two light rapers to see inside without opening the door and thus not losing cold air that was already there.
It is also employing various advanced cooling technologies for the even temperature part, a Smart Inverter Compressor that is capable of significantly reducing energy consumption, and LG ThinQ connectivity, providing the ability to carry out remote monitoring and maintenance through an alert.
According to Jane Kariuki, LG East Africa’s Head of Marketing, the event serves as a showcase of the company’s bigger picture of meaningful innovation.
Innovation is only relevant when it helps and cannot be more prominent than in this product, when the features of the good work and sustainability come in one. Kariuki said.
Along with the brand name ENERGY STAR, the new fridge aims at facilitating the life of consumers both in the city and in the most remote areas where power supply is either eliminated or unstable, as well as an option that fits perfectly with contemporary kitchens.
LG says it is a good model for a family that wants to keep their groceries alive considering the current food crisis and the energy costs that are still rising worldwide.
It is possible to buy an LG InstaView Bottom Freezer refrigerator throughout the country at LG/Opalnet brand shops, Hotpoint Appliances, major supermarkets, and other retail partners.
