Lazizi Mara Limited has issued a formal position statement addressing the growing public discussion surrounding The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp, emphasizing that the matter is already before the Environment and Land Court under Petition No. E003 of 2025.

The company says it has filed a comprehensive response to the petition, submitting key documents that include all correspondence with Narok County on the lease application dating back to 2023, the official approval letter, the lease agreement, and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report accompanied by evidence of public participation. Additional documents submitted include correspondence from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Narok County Government confirming that due process was followed.

Lazizi Mara clarified that The Ritz-Carlton is neither the owner nor operator of the project, stating that the petitioner’s claims overlook the fact that Lazizi Mara Limited is solely responsible for the development and operation of the facility.

The company also accused the petitioner of delaying the legal process, noting that despite filing the petition in August, he has yet to serve all listed respondents—an omission Lazizi Mara describes as a deliberate attempt to stall proceedings.

Reaffirming its commitment to the rule of law, the company said it will not engage in further public debate while the matter is under judicial consideration.

Lazizi Mara added that both The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott conducted independent and extensive due diligence before issuing brand licences and continue to support the project as the case progresses.

The company expressed confidence in the judicial process and pledged full compliance with all legal requirements.
