KUPPET Busia Urges Education Ministry to Keep Grade 10 Registration Portal Open

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Busia branch has appealed to the Ministry of Education not to close the Grade 10 student registration portal, citing that many learners are yet to report to secondary schools.

Speaking at Mundika Youth School in Matayos Constituency, KUPPET Busia Secretary Moffat Okisai warned that shutting down the portal could deny some students the opportunity to continue with their education.

Okisai noted that several learners are still facing challenges that have delayed their transition to Grade 10, and emphasized the need for flexibility to ensure no student is left behind. He proposed that school principals be granted the authority to directly register students to support the government’s goal of achieving a 100 per cent transition rate to Grade 10.

The union called on the ministry to consider the realities on the ground and work closely with education stakeholders to safeguard learners’ right to education.
