Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) Director General Philemon Kandie has officially resigned from his position, cutting short his five-year term. His resignation takes effect from Friday, 11th July 2025.
In a statement issued by the KeRRA Board of Directors, the resignation was accepted in consultation with the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport. No official reason was provided for Kandie’s mid-term departure.
Following the development, the Board has appointed Eng. Jackson K. Magondu, currently serving as Director of Planning, Design and Environment, as the Acting Director General. His appointment also takes effect on 11th July 2025.
Eng. Magondu is expected to steer the agency’s operations as the search for a substantive Director General begins. He brings with him years of experience in infrastructure planning and rural road development.
Kandie’s exit comes amid increased focus on the government’s rural roads improvement programme, a key component of President William Ruto’s development agenda.
