Maisha Magic Plus is set to bring a fresh wave of laughter to Kenyan screens with its latest comedy series, Sumbua Sacco, premiering on Friday, February 7th. Starring Jackie Vike (Click Click Bang) and Cyprian Osoro (4 Better 4 Worse), the show promises a hilarious take on the chaotic yet colorful world of Nairobi’s matatu culture.
Set in the lively Lumumba Estate, Sumbua Sacco follows Awinja (Jackie Vike) and Osoro (Cyprian Osoro), a broke but ambitious couple whose luck takes a dramatic turn when Awinja wins big and they purchase a matatu. However, their dreams of success soon spiral into a whirlwind of challenges as they navigate the unruly realities of the matatu business.
From rowdy passengers and rogue cartels to shady authorities and piling debts, Awinja and Osoro’s journey is packed with unexpected twists, outrageous moments, and nonstop laughter. Their resilience, quick wit, and street-smart hustle make for an authentic and entertaining portrayal of Nairobi’s public transport sector.

The concept for Sumbua Sacco was born from an online skit featuring Awinja and Osoro, where Awinja played a comedic matatu tout reacting to a passenger’s woes. According to producer Lawrence Murage, the original plan was to develop the idea into a limited online series, but the rich storytelling potential of the matatu culture led to a bigger vision, adapting it for television.
“The matatu industry is full of real, raw, and ridiculously funny stories,” says Murage. “We wanted to capture those relatable and entertaining moments while giving audiences a much-needed break from life’s daily grind. This show is all about fun, laughter, and a touch of Nairobi madness.”
