South B MCA Hon Waithera Chege continues to cement her place as a bold and transformative leader, following her frontline role in facilitating access to the Affordable Housing Program for her constituents. Her tireless advocacy and people-first leadership were on full display as she hosted the Affordable Housing Program Board CEO, Madam Sheila Waweru, for a special engagement session with beneficiaries from South B.
In the landmark meeting, residents received the good news that the initial deposit required to own an affordable house had been reduced from 10 percent to just 5 percent—a monumental win for low-income earners. This policy shift, applauded by many, is a major boost to families long locked out of home ownership by prohibitive entry costs.
Hon Waithera Chege has been instrumental in pushing for such reforms, always putting the needs of her people at the center of her service. She has worked hand-in-hand with national housing authorities to ensure South B residents are prioritized and well-informed on the opportunities presented under the government’s Affordable Housing agenda.
“We are not leaving anyone behind,” Hon Waithera noted during the forum. “Every hardworking Kenyan deserves a roof over their head and a future they can call their own.”
Her collaborative leadership was also praised by CEO Madam Sheila Waweru, who commended the MCA for her unrelenting focus on equity, transparency, and inclusive development.
By acting as a bridge between the government and her constituents, Hon Waithera has ensured that critical updates—like the new reduced deposit requirement—reach the people in real time, sparking hope and accelerating uptake of the housing program in South B.
Residents lauded the MCA’s consistent presence, unwavering advocacy, and bold representation in ensuring that South B not only benefits from policy, but participates in shaping it.
As the Affordable Housing Program rolls out further, Hon Waithera Chege stands as a shining example of grassroots leadership in action delivering impact, unlocking opportunity, and championing dignity through access to decent, affordable housing.
