Halal Hub Africa unveils platform to tap $4 trillion global Halal market

1 Mins read

Halal Hub Africa launched its transformative platform at a vibrant soft launch event at MAA Hotel, Nairobi, aiming to unify Kenya’s fragmented Halal ecosystem and connect it to the $3-4 trillion global Halal industry.

Founder Faisal Qasim introduced the Halal Hub app, designed to organize businesses, job seekers, and investors, fostering economic growth and opportunities across Africa.

Qasim highlighted the challenge of a scattered Halal sector in Kenya, noting, “We have many players, but they’re all over the place.”

The app addresses this by listing Halal businesses, providing lifestyle information, and connecting job creators with seekers to tackle youth unemployment.

A dedicated job section allows employers, like MAA Hotel, to browse candidate profiles and hire efficiently, addressing the mismatch Qasim observed in his social interactions. “We’re bridging job seekers and creators,” he said, emphasizing the platform’s role in streamlining opportunities.

Qasim also announced the upcoming Halal Club, set for unveiling on November 1, as a business and social networking hub. It will connect innovators with investors, targeting those “200,000 or 500,000 shillings away from becoming millionaires” by linking them with funders for whom such amounts are “pocket change.”

This initiative aims to spark innovation and economic growth. The event highlighted global potential, with the Head of Trade and Economic Affairs from Indonesia’s Embassy noting challenges in attracting investors to Kenya’s 98% Halal economy.

Qasim proposed partnerships, like Halal resorts in Masai Mara, to draw foreign direct investments (FDIs).Despite policy gaps, Qasim praised Kenyans’ resilience through crises like COVID and the 2007-2008 violence, a trait he believes attracts investors.

Representatives from the county trade team and the Ministry of Tourism attended, signaling government support. Halal Hub Africa plans to negotiate better policies while focusing on Kenya’s innovative spirit, aiming to unlock endless opportunities in the global Halal market.
