A Grade 7 pupil has tragically died after being hit by a stray bullet inside her home in Kiambu County, following running battles between police and protesters during the Saba Sabam Day demonstrations. The incident has sparked outrage, with leaders and family members calling for justice.
The deceased, Bridgit, a Grade 7 pupil, was watching television beside her mother around 6 PM when a bullet believed to have been fired during confrontations between police and protesters pierced through the roof of their house, fatally wounding her in the head.
According to her family, Bridgit was not involved in the demonstrations and was in the safety of her home when the tragedy occurred. Her father, who was outside feeding chickens with the other children, rushed in after hearing his wife scream, only to find his daughter bleeding profusely.

She was quickly tajen to hospital offered to rush them to St. Bridget Hospital, but it was too late. A CT scan revealed the bullet had lodged deep into her brain. Doctors tried to save her, but within minutes, she was gone.
Bridgit’s family is now demanding justice saying the girl was not part of the demonstrations and that her life was unfairly cut short. According to reports, least six people were killed in Kiambu during the protests and are now calling on the President to listen to the youth and end the deadly confrontations.
As her family prepares to lay her to rest, Bridgit becomes yet another tragic reminder of the innocent lives caught in the crossfire of Kenya’s current political unrest.
