In a spirited celebration of customer loyalty, Faras, a leading Kenyan taxi-hailing company, on Friday hosted an event to honor its top clients as part of its customer service week.
Held at the Faras center, the event emphasized the company’s commitment to excellent service and community engagement. General Manager Allan Maimbu took the opportunity to acknowledge the importance of customer support in the company’s growth since its inception two years ago.
Maimbu highlighted Faras’s unique loyalty program, FarasMiles, which rewards customers with cashback and points for every trip they take. Customers earn 10 percent of their fare back in the form of FarasMiles, which can be redeemed for airtime, data bundles, or withdrawn via M-Pesa. This innovative approach not only incentivizes frequent usage but also fosters a sense of community among users.
“Every time a client takes a trip with Faras, they enjoy 10 percent cashback, which can later be withdrawn or used to purchase airtime,” Maimbu explained. The program aims to enhance the customer experience while ensuring drivers feel appreciated for their efforts. As part of this initiative, the company also rewards top-performing drivers, with Maimbu noting that five top customers and their friends were celebrated during the event, each receiving a package and Ksh 10,000.
Wanjiku Wambui, one of the rewarded customers, expressed her gratitude for the recognition. “This award was a pleasant surprise,” she said. Introduced to Faras by a friend, Wanjiku praised the company’s customer service, stating, “Whenever I call customer care, they always respond promptly.” She emphasized that the benefits of using Faras extend beyond the rewards; the customer care service is superior compared to other taxi services in the market.
Faras has made a significant impact in the competitive taxi industry in Kenya, positioning itself as the second-largest service provider after overtaking a well-established competitor. Maimbu revealed the company’s ambitious plans for the future, stating, “We aim to be the number one taxi service in Kenya next year.” Currently operating in Nairobi, Nakuru, and Mombasa, Faras is set to expand to all counties in the coming year, which underscores its commitment to accessibility and community service.

The company’s focus on supporting local communities was a recurring theme during the event. Maimbu remarked on the importance of nurturing homegrown businesses, stating, “We are a company that likes to support our community in Kenya.” This sentiment was echoed by Wanjiku, who encouraged others to promote local products, highlighting the slogan “produce Kenya, buy Kenya.” She articulated the belief that supporting domestic businesses will lead to broader growth and sustainability within the country.
Faras’s strategy includes not only rewarding customers but also fostering a sense of community among drivers and clients alike. The monthly rewards initiative has seen over 60 customers and more than 120 drivers recognized since its launch, demonstrating the company’s commitment to appreciation and engagement at all levels.
The excitement among the awarded customers was palpable, with many urging fellow Kenyans to choose Faras as their preferred taxi service. “Let us grow our own before we look beyond our borders,” Wanjiku urged, reinforcing the idea that local support is crucial for the success of Kenyan businesses.
As Faras continues to innovate and expand, it remains dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and rewarding transport options for its customers. With its robust loyalty program, commitment to excellent customer service, and plans for national expansion, Faras is poised to further solidify its place in the Kenyan taxi industry. The company’s mission is clear: to ensure that every ride counts, bringing both value and satisfaction to its clients while supporting the local economy.
