EPRA Cuts Fuel Prices by Up to Sh4 in February Review
Kenyans are set to pay less for fuel following the latest monthly review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) that has announced fuel price cuts, which will be in effect from February 14.
According to the new price list, Super Petrol has gone down by Sh4. 24 per litre, Diesel by Sh3. 93 per litre, and Kerosene is cheaper by one shilling per litre. Locally in Nairobi, car owners will now pay Sh178. 28 for Super Petrol, Sh166. 54 for Diesel, and Sh152. 78 for Kerosene.
EPRA has stated that the lowering of prices is mainly due to the fall in the average landed cost of imported petroleum products. The landed cost of Super Petrol declined by 2. 69 percent from December 2025 to January 2026, which has helped to reduce the domestic pump prices.
Nevertheless, the effect of this price adjustment is not the same everywhere since transport and distribution charges vary. Thus, in Mombasa, people will pay Sh175. 90 for Petrol, Sh164. 16 for Diesel, and Sh150. 40 for Kerosene.
On the other hand, in Mandera, where supply chain, related costs are high leading to increased prices, Super Petrol will be sold at Sh191. 99, Diesel at Sh180. 25, and Kerosene at Sh166. 49.
The regulator pointed out that the new prices already factor in the 16 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) as provided for in the Finance Act 2023 and the Tax Laws Amendment Act 2024.
