Eastmart opens it’s 11th shop in Baba Dogo in Ruaraka on Monday 16th
Eastmatt Supermarkets, one of Kenya’s fast-growing retail chains, officially opened its 11th branch in Baba Dogo, marking a major milestone in its expansion strategy and dedication to underserved communities. This move not only brings affordable and quality retail options to Ruaraka residents but also reaffirms Eastmatt’s role as a trusted name in Kenya’s retail industry.
Speaking during the launch, Eastmatt’s Head of Marketing, Morris Kiunge, emphasized the supermarket’s unique “full basket” offering, providing fresh groceries, household essentials, electronics, furniture, and baked goods all under one roof. “Eastmatt stands out by offering some of the lowest prices among leading retail chains. We are here to deliver affordability and choice to the people of Baba Dogo,” Kiunge said.
For local residents like Anne Wangari, one of the first shoppers, the new outlet is a game-changer. “The prices are great, especially during this festive season. It’s a relief for hustler families like ours,” she remarked, encouraging neighbors to take advantage of the competitive pricing.
The opening is timely, aligning perfectly with the Christmas season, a time when families are looking for value and convenience. The Baba Dogo branch comes with tailored solutions, such as Eastmatt’s innovative ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ program, introduced earlier this year. Customers can secure essential products from electronics and furniture to kitchen items without upfront costs, paying in flexible installments over three months, interest-free.
Teresa Mwangi, Eastmatt’s Human Capital Manager, highlighted the positive economic impact of the new store, which employs 85 local staff members directly and supports countless others through its supply chain. “This branch represents years of planning and overcoming challenges, including delays caused by COVID-19. It’s rewarding to see our vision come to life,” she said.
Eastmatt’s expansion, from its humble beginnings in Eastleigh in 1994 to 11 branches across Nairobi, Machakos, Kirinyaga, and Gilgil, underscores its resilience and ability to adapt to evolving consumer needs. Looking ahead, the retailer is set to launch an e-commerce platform early next year, further enhancing access to its products.
The Baba Dogo community now has a modern, affordable shopping hub that caters to both small daily purchases and larger needs, solidifying Eastmatt’s role as a champion of affordable retail for all Kenyans. As families prepare for Christmas, Eastmatt promises to be part of their celebrations, bringing quality, variety, and affordability closer to home.
