Dr. Jane Imbunya has officially assumed the role of Principal Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, taking over from Amos Gathecha, who has been appointed Deputy Head of Public Service.
The handover ceremony, held on April 22, 2025, in Nairobi, marked a significant transition in the leadership of the department. Dr. Imbunya emphasized the need for unity, inclusivity, and compassion in the public service, highlighting their importance in fostering a supportive and productive work environment.
“As we move forward, our focus will be on building a public service that is not only efficient and responsive, but also caring and inclusive,” said Dr. Imbunya.
Outgoing PS Amos Gathecha, who served in the role for over two years, used the occasion to reflect on the milestones achieved during his tenure. He urged Dr. Imbunya to sustain the momentum and prioritize strategic initiatives aligned with the department’s long-term vision.
“I have full confidence in Dr. Imbunya’s leadership. As she takes the reins, I encourage her to focus on the foundational programs that will define the future of our public service,” said Gathecha.
Dr. Imbunya’s appointment comes at a time when the government is intensifying efforts to modernize human capital management and improve service delivery across all public sectors
