President William Ruto speaking at the Third National Executive Retreat at KCB Leadership Centre in Nairobi on Thursday
President William Ruto has issued a rallying call to his Cabinet and senior government officials to remain focused and united in delivering the Kenya Kwanza administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), declaring that “failure is not an option.”
Speaking at the opening of the Third National Executive Retreat at the KCB Leadership Centre in Nairobi, the President reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Kenya’s economic and governance systems, emphasizing the urgency of fulfilling the promises made to the Kenyan people.
“The path to transforming our country has been bumpy, demanding, and requiring of us to make difficult decision. Even so, we are proud of those decisions that are now paying dividends. We remain focused as we build synergies that will spur our economic growth.”Ruto said
The two-day retreat brings together Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and other top officials to assess progress on key government priorities under BETA, including job creation, education reforms, infrastructure development, and improved service delivery.
In a passionate address, President Ruto reminded leaders of the profound trust Kenyans placed in his leadership during the last general election.
“There are people who voted for me whom I didn’t expect to vote for me,” he recalled. “Because of what they heard me say, what they thought I stood for, and the commitments I had made they did.”
He recounted a conversation with a voter in Mombasa who was swayed by his assertive campaign stance, saying: “Nyingi mkiniona, mimi ni mtu naweza kuibiwa kura?” a reflection, he said, of how conviction can build public trust.
“We cannot fail,” he warned. “If we don’t succeed, we’ll have let this country down in a very profound way. I will always be there to lead this team. A lot is at stake.”
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki also addressed the forum. Kindiki echoed the President’s optimism, noting that the administration’s radical policy interventions are already bearing fruit.
“We are making significant progress in the transformative journey of uplifting the well-being of our citizens,” said Kindiki, highlighting strides made in economic recovery, youth employment, and national infrastructure expansion.
President Ruto urged his team to remain steadfast and collaborative.“I always knew that changing this country would not be easy. But I also knew that it is possible if we do it together.”he added
