Bolt races into Kenya’s grocery scene with launch of Bolt Market

Bolt, a leading mobility and food delivery platform operating across Africa and Europe, has officially launched Bolt Market, its new on-demand grocery delivery service in Nairobi. The move marks a significant expansion for Bolt as it capitalizes on the growing demand for convenient and fast grocery delivery solutions in urban centers.

The new service, seamlessly integrated into the Bolt Food app, allows users to order groceries and household essentials within a 10-kilometer radius of the Bolt Market store in Kilimani. Customers can place orders between 8:00 AM and 11:00 PM, with the option to schedule deliveries up to 24 hours in advance.

To mark the launch, Bolt Market is offering free delivery within a 3-kilometer radius and discounts of up to 80 percent on selected items. The store provides access to over 2,000 carefully curated products, including fresh produce sourced from local suppliers, household essentials, and beverages.

Edgar Kitur, General Manager of Bolt Food, highlighted the company’s vision to meet consumer demand for quality and convenience in urban grocery shopping. “With the launch of Bolt Market grocery delivery in Kenya, we aim to better serve a thriving food and grocery ecosystem that is a foundation for a city people love to live in. Bolt Market offers a selection of over 1,500 carefully curated products, from fresh produce to household essentials. The store teams have no interruptions and handle products with care, making sure customers get the quality they would choose while saving their time,” Kitur said.

The app experience remains streamlined and user-friendly. Shoppers can browse a wide selection of products, view real-time prices and estimated delivery times before placing orders, and pay securely through integrated bank card options.

Bolt’s entry into the grocery delivery market is a strategic move to diversify its services and strengthen its market position in Kenya. The expansion leverages Bolt’s established presence in mobility and food delivery, positioning it as a multi-service platform addressing urban needs.

With the on-demand grocery delivery sector experiencing rapid growth, Bolt Market is well-positioned to compete against established players by offering competitive pricing, speed, and a seamless customer experience.
