Airtel Money has announced the extension of its popular ‘Rudishiwa transaction fee’ campaign to Paybill transactions, giving customers a tangible benefit by refunding part of the transaction fees in the form of airtime. This initiative, launched just in time for the festive season, is aimed at enhancing customer value and encouraging greater adoption of mobile payments across Kenya.
The new offer will see Airtel Money customers receive back 50 percent of the transaction fees incurred when making payments via Airtel Paybills. By offering airtime refunds, Airtel Money ensures users not only enjoy the convenience of mobile payments but also remain connected during the busy festive period.
The extended Rudishiwa campaign builds on the success of last year’s program, where Airtel Money refunded transaction fees on cash withdrawals, a move that was well-received by customers. The latest enhancement specifically targets Paybill services, aligning with the growing role of mobile money in Kenya’s digital payments ecosystem.
Airtel Money has partnered with major service providers, including Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), Nairobi Water, Mombasa Water, DSTV, eCitizen, Expressway, KAPS, and key e-commerce platforms, to enable seamless and affordable payments. Additionally, Airtel has strategically collaborated with Equity Bank, KCB Bank, and Cooperative Bank to facilitate payments across thousands of merchant outlets nationwide.
Speaking at the launch of the extended offer, Airtel Money Managing Director Anne Kinuthia Otieno emphasized the importance of mobile money in advancing financial inclusion and economic activity.
“The growing potential of mobile money has been crucial in enhancing financial inclusion and economic activity. Mobile money has now become a primary mode of exchange, and creating mechanisms to streamline this is crucial for societal well-being. Our main goal is to continuously give customers value, choice, affordability, and convenience,” Otieno stated.
She further highlighted Airtel Money’s ongoing investments and strategic partnerships aimed at expanding the platform’s reach and providing affordable solutions to customers.
To strengthen its nationwide footprint, Airtel Money has expanded its distribution network to over 90,000 agents and more than 2,300 exclusive Airtel Money branches. The company’s most recent partnership with Naivas Supermarket allows customers to deposit and withdraw cash at Naivas outlets across the country, increasing accessibility and convenience.
The ‘Rudishiwa’ Paybill offer can be accessed easily by customers. To take advantage of this promotion, users can dial ** *334#**, select ‘Paybills and Till’, and choose ‘Airtel Paybills’. The offer is also available through the My Airtel App, further simplifying the payment process.
As mobile money continues to reshape Kenya’s financial landscape, Airtel Money remains committed to delivering secure, convenient, and affordable payment solutions for individuals and businesses alike. Through its innovative initiatives and collaborations, the company is well-positioned to drive mobile money adoption and enhance customer value during the festive season and beyond.
Airtel Money is a leading mobile money platform in Kenya, offering seamless payment solutions for individuals, businesses, and organizations.
