Africa Global Public Relations Week Returns for Second Edition in Nairobi

Africa Global Public Relations Week (AGPRW) has announced the second edition of its flagship pan-African communications convening, set to take place from August 26 to 28, 2026, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The event will bring together public relations and strategic communications professionals from across Africa and the global African diaspora to advance industry practice and strengthen Africa’s voice in global discourse.

Building on a Successful Inaugural Edition

Following the momentum of its first edition, AGPRW 2026 aims to further position itself as a key platform for shaping the future of public relations on the continent. The three-day event will convene PR consultants, corporate communications leaders, media professionals, academics, policymakers, and students for high-level engagement, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

Organisers say the event will deepen cross-border dialogue and foster partnerships that respond to Africa’s evolving communications landscape.

Theme Focus: Africa as a Global Brand

The 2026 edition will be held under the theme “Redefining Africa; Africa as a Brand.” Discussions will centre on how strategic communication can reshape perceptions, strengthen reputations, and position Africa competitively in an increasingly interconnected global economy.

Key conversations will explore the role of public relations in nation branding, corporate reputation management, storytelling, and agenda-setting, while interrogating how African narratives are created, owned, and amplified on the global stage.

Programme Highlights and Key Focus Areas

AGPRW 2026 will feature keynote addresses, expert panel discussions, masterclasses, and structured networking sessions. The programme will focus on priority issues affecting the profession, including reputation and crisis management, digital transformation, data-driven communications, stakeholder engagement, sustainability and ESG communications, media relations, and the growing influence of technology and innovation in PR practice.

University PR Challenge Returns

Ahead of the main conference, AGPRW will host the second edition of the University PR Challenge (UPRC) on August 25, 2026. The initiative is designed to identify and nurture emerging African PR talent by exposing university students to practical, real-world communications challenges assessed by industry professionals.

The inaugural challenge in 2025 featured students from Mount Kenya University, Riara University, Strathmore University, and United States International University, with the finale hosted at Aga Khan University in Nairobi.

Expanded Continental Participation

For the 2026 edition, organisers are targeting participation from more than 10 universities across Africa, expanding the competition’s continental footprint and reinforcing AGPRW’s commitment to capacity building and professional development. A panel of professional judges has already been constituted, with organisers expressing optimism about a highly competitive edition.

Nairobi Chosen as Strategic Host City

“Nairobi’s role as a regional hub for media, innovation, and policy dialogue makes it an ideal host city for AGPRW’s second edition,” the AGPRW organising committee said. “The 2026 programme will deepen cross-border collaboration and elevate conversations that reflect Africa’s evolving communications landscape.”

Registration Now Open

Registration for Africa Global Public Relations Week 2026 is currently open, with early interest reported from professionals, institutions, and partners across multiple African markets. Organisers expect strong continental participation, further cementing AGPRW’s place as a recurring fixture on Africa’s professional communications calendar.
