Absa Kenya Foundation has pledged KES 3 million to support vulnerable communities across the country during the Holy month of Ramadhan. The initiative aims to provide essential food supplies to over 800 households, impacting more than 2,400 individuals in different regions, including Nairobi, Garissa, Kisumu, Isiolo, Bungoma, Eldoret, Murang’a, Kajiado, Oyugis, and Nkurumah.

The donations, conducted in partnership with Muslim community associations and local mosques, are part of Absa Kenya Foundation’s commitment to making a meaningful difference in society.

Speaking during a donation event in Kibra, Absa Bank Kenya’s Chief Finance Officer, Yusuf Omari, emphasized the foundation’s dedication to supporting the less fortunate, particularly during this sacred period.

“We are honored to be here today to share in the spirit of Ramadhan, which emphasizes generosity and compassion. Just as we believe in inclusivity in our banking solutions, we also believe in uplifting those in need during this period so that they too can break their fast with dignity,” said Mr. Omari.

The Deputy Chief Kadhi of the Shariah Board, Sheikh Sukyan Omar, lauded the initiative, noting that the support would bring relief to struggling families.

“We are grateful that Absa Kenya Foundation has come to walk this journey with the vulnerable, especially during Ramadhan. The donated food will go a long way in alleviating suffering among the needy,” said Sheikh Omar.

The foundation has already distributed foodstuffs to communities in Gilgil, Mukuru, Juja, Kariobangi, and Kawangware, with plans to continue the initiative until the end of Ramadhan.

This initiative underscores Absa Kenya Foundation’s ongoing commitment to social impact, particularly in times of need.
