Absa Bank Kenya Clinches Top Honour as Bank of the Year at 2025 Banker Awards

Absa Bank Kenya has been named Bank of the Year – Kenya at the 2025 Banker Awards, securing one of the continent’s most prestigious and competitive industry recognitions.

The accolade underscores the bank’s strong execution of its segment-led, ecosystem-driven strategy, which has bolstered its relevance across Private and Personal Banking, Business Banking, and Corporate & Investment Banking. This approach has enabled Absa to support entire customer value chains with deeper insights, enhanced advisory capability, and tailored financial solutions.

Despite a challenging operating environment, Absa delivered solid 2024 full-year results, marked by improved profitability, disciplined cost management, and increased business diversification. According to The Banker, the bank’s strategic repositioning—from a product-centric model to a segmentation-focused approach—significantly enhanced customer value and strengthened relationships across key segments.

Speaking on the recognition, Abdi Mohamed, Managing Director and CEO of Absa Bank Kenya, said:

“This award reinforces our transformation into a purpose-led, segment-driven financial institution. Being named Bank of the Year in Kenya affirms that our strategy is bearing fruits and continues to advance our purpose of Empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together… one story at a time. Every customer who walks with us should feel seen, supported and assured that Your Story Matters.”

Absa’s ongoing strategy places customer-centricity at its core while deepening advisory excellence, expanding distribution channels, accelerating digital innovation, and building a diversified, sustainable business.

This momentum positions Absa Bank Kenya among the country’s most future-ready and customer-responsive financial institutions.

The Banker Awards celebrate financial institutions that demonstrate operational strength, strategic clarity, innovation, and meaningful impact on customers and communities.

The 2025 winners were recognised for their resilience and ability to meet evolving economic and social needs.
