Samsung Electronics East Africa has introduced two new smartphones in Kenya, the Galaxy A18 LTE and Galaxy A08 LTE, targeting consumers seeking longer battery life, improved cameras, artificial intelligence features and enhanced security at different price points.

The new devices expand Samsung’s Galaxy A Series, offering features designed to support everyday activities such as online communication, entertainment, mobile gaming, photography and work.

The Galaxy A18 LTE targets users seeking a more advanced smartphone experience. It features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, designed to deliver clearer visuals and smoother scrolling.

Samsung has equipped the device with the Exynos 1610/G99+ platform and LPDDR5x memory options to support multitasking, entertainment and gaming.

For photography, the Galaxy A18 LTE features a 50-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel sensor. The ultra-wide camera allows users to capture broader scenes and group photographs.

The phone also comes with a 5,000mAh battery and 25W fast charging. Its IP64 rating provides protection against dust and water splashes, while a reinforced body and glass-fibre-reinforced polymer material are designed to improve durability.

Samsung has committed to providing the Galaxy A18 LTE with six generations of operating system upgrades and six years of security updates. The device also includes Samsung Knox Vault, which helps protect sensitive information such as passwords and biometric data.

Its artificial intelligence features include Circle to Search 3.0, allowing users to search for information directly from content displayed on their screens. It also supports AI assistants Gemini and Perplexity.

The Galaxy A08 LTE offers an alternative for consumers seeking practical features at a lower starting price. It has a 6.7-inch HD+ PLS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and runs on the Helio G99+ platform with LPDDR5x memory.

The device’s main selling point is its 6,000mAh battery, supported by 25W fast charging. Its camera system includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel rear sensor and an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.

Like the A18 LTE, the A08 LTE has an IP64 rating, Samsung Knox Vault security and a commitment to six generations of operating system upgrades and six years of security maintenance releases. It also supports Circle to Search 3.0, Gemini and Perplexity, bringing AI-powered tools to a more affordable smartphone option.

In Kenya, the Galaxy A18 LTE with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage will retail at KSh32,000. An 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version, priced at KSh51,600, will arrive later in the year. The Galaxy A08 LTE with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage will retail at KSh23,300, while a 6GB RAM and 128GB version, priced at KSh33,100, will follow later. Both models support microSD storage expansion of up to 2TB.

Through the two launches, Samsung is expanding its smartphone range with a focus on battery performance, camera capabilities, security, AI tools and long-term software support.
