NCBA, Optiven Renew Partnership to Expand Affordable Property Ownership

NCBA Bank and Optiven Limited have renewed their strategic partnership to make property ownership more accessible to Kenyans in the country and the diaspora through enhanced financing solutions and digital property services.

The renewed partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), will support customers seeking to acquire land, construct homes, and purchase residential and commercial properties across Kenya.

Under the agreement, first-time homebuyers will be eligible for financing of up to 105 per cent of the property value, with the additional five per cent covering costs such as stamp duty, property valuation and legal fees.

The financing package also provides up to 90 per cent financing for residential property purchases and up to 80 per cent for plot purchases.

Customers can repay the facilities over periods of up to 25 years, giving prospective homeowners greater flexibility in managing their investments.

The partnership also incorporates PropertyDuka, NCBA’s digital property marketplace designed to connect prospective buyers with vetted property listings and financing options.

Through the platform, customers can search and compare available properties, identify investment opportunities, and apply for financing, creating a more integrated process from property discovery to ownership.

The financing solutions will be available in Kenyan Shillings, US Dollars, British Pounds and Euros, supporting Kenyans living abroad who want to invest in property back home.

Dennis Njau, Group Director, Retail Banking at NCBA, said the partnership would help simplify the property ownership journey by combining financing with access to property opportunities.

“At NCBA, we believe property ownership is one of the most powerful ways individuals and families can build wealth and secure their future,” Njau said.

He added that the collaboration with Optiven would enable customers to access financing and investment opportunities at different stages of their property ownership journey, from purchasing a first plot to building a home or expanding an existing portfolio.

The partnership gives customers access to Optiven developments in Nairobi and its environs, Mombasa, Mtwapa, Diani, Ukunda, Lamu, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, Nanyuki, Meru, Nyeri, Kakamega, Machakos, Kericho and Bungoma, among other growth centres.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Optiven Group Chief Executive Officer Dr George Wachiuri said the partnership would combine the company’s property development experience with NCBA’s financing capabilities.

“This renewed partnership reflects our shared belief that every Kenyan deserves a place to call home,” Wachiuri said.

He said the collaboration would provide customers with greater financial support while making the property ownership process more seamless and transparent.

The renewed agreement comes amid continued demand for housing and property investment in Kenya, with rapid urbanisation, population growth and diaspora investment contributing to demand for affordable property financing.

NCBA and Optiven said the partnership would provide end-to-end support covering land acquisition, construction, property completion and long-term mortgage management.

The two organisations are also seeking to address some of the financial barriers that have traditionally limited access to property ownership by providing structured financing alongside a digital platform for property discovery.

As the partnership takes effect, customers will have access to a combination of property listings, financing solutions and support aimed at making land and home ownership more accessible across Kenya and among Kenyans in the diaspora.
