Harvestfield Healthcare FZE has commenced commercial production of next-generation insecticide-treated mosquito nets in Nigeria, strengthening the country’s capacity to locally manufacture malaria prevention products.
Operations at the company’s manufacturing facility in the Harvestfield Free Trade Zone in Ogun State began on September 13, 2026. The facility is already supplying a World Bank-funded programme covering 31 states.
The wholly Nigerian-owned facility manufactures Synera DuoForte, a dual active ingredient long-lasting insecticidal net developed and owned by GDM Health Products. The nets combine a pyrethroid with chlorfenapyr, an insecticide that works through a different mode of action.
The technology is designed to address growing mosquito resistance to pyrethroid insecticides, which can reduce the effectiveness of conventional treated nets. The World Health Organization recommends dual active ingredient nets in areas where pyrethroid resistance is established.
Synera DuoForte is WHO-prequalified, while Harvestfield’s Ogun facility is an approved manufacturing location under the prequalification. The facility is also certified by Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control and holds ISO certification.
Harvestfield said the investment will reduce reliance on imported nets and shorten supply timelines, while strengthening local technical, manufacturing and regulatory capabilities.
The company has operated in Nigeria’s vector control sector for 26 years and has delivered more than 42 million insecticide-treated nets across all 36 states.
The initiative supports Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen domestic healthcare manufacturing under the Renewed Hope agenda, the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain and the Nigeria First procurement policy.
