Bamburi Cement has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) to improve power reliability and support sustainable industrial growth in Kenya’s Coast region.
The commitment was highlighted during a high-level engagement between the leadership teams of Bamburi Cement and KPLC at Bamburi Cement’s Mombasa Plant.
The meeting brought together Bamburi Cement Chief Executive Officer Geoffrey Ndugwa and Kenya Power Managing Director and CEO Dr. Eng. Joseph Siror, alongside senior officials from the two organisations. Discussions focused on strengthening electricity supply, enhancing operational resilience and identifying opportunities for closer collaboration to support the manufacturing sector.
As one of Kenya’s significant industrial electricity consumers, Bamburi Cement relies on a stable and reliable power supply to maintain efficient manufacturing operations and ensure business continuity.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the two organisations to explore practical measures that can contribute to improved power stability and operational efficiency, while supporting the wider development of industries in the Coast region.
Speaking during the engagement, Bamburi Cement CEO Geoffrey Ndugwa said reliable energy infrastructure remains critical to the competitiveness and sustainability of Kenya’s manufacturing sector.
“A reliable and stable power supply is fundamental to the growth and competitiveness of industry,” Ndugwa said.
He added that the company’s engagement with KPLC provides an important platform for exploring practical solutions that can strengthen power reliability, improve operational resilience and support sustainable industrial growth, particularly in the Coast region.
Ndugwa said Bamburi Cement values its partnership with Kenya Power and looks forward to deepening the collaboration.
On his part, Kenya Power MD and CEO Dr. Eng. Joseph Siror said partnerships with major industrial customers are important in strengthening the reliability and quality of electricity supply.

He noted that the Coast region continues to attract investment and expand its industrial base, creating a need for electricity infrastructure capable of supporting increased demand and economic activity.
The two organisations agreed on the importance of maintaining regular engagement to identify opportunities for improving electricity reliability while supporting the expansion of manufacturing and other industries across the region.
The partnership is also aligned with Bamburi Cement’s broader sustainability agenda, which seeks to promote responsible operations while contributing to a resilient and competitive manufacturing sector.
Improved power reliability is expected to support industrial productivity, minimise operational disruptions and strengthen the Coast region’s attractiveness to investors, contributing to Kenya’s broader economic and manufacturing growth.
