Safaricom has rolled out the latest version of My OneApp, introducing new features, improved security and enhanced performance as it continues refining the unified platform launched in April 2026.
My OneApp replaced the standalone M-PESA and MySafaricom applications, bringing together mobile money services, airtime and data purchases, Bonga Points, Home Fibre management, customer support and a growing range of mini-apps under a single interface.
The latest update, now available for Android and iOS users, focuses on making everyday transactions faster and more convenient while addressing issues reported during the initial rollout.
Among the key improvements is a redesigned mini-apps interface that makes services easier to find and navigate. Home Fibre customers can now manage Secure Home Internet features directly from the app, including parental controls, Quiet Time scheduling, anti-virus and anti-phishing protection.
Customers can also activate roaming and purchase Roam Like Home bundles without leaving the application, making it easier for travellers to stay connected. In addition, Daima Bundles now support M-PESA payments alongside airtime, while access to Easy Talk and Daima products has been simplified.
The update also introduces more flexible payment options by allowing users to choose between M-PESA, Bonga Points and ShirikiPay from a single payment screen. Customers can also set up M-Ratiba standing orders more quickly during transactions, while International Money Transfer now includes a “Send to Agent” option.
Safaricom says the application now offers better performance, including improved dark mode stability, smoother navigation and enhanced overall reliability.
Security remains a central feature of My OneApp. To help reduce fraud, the application requires users to have a Safaricom SIM card set as the primary SIM on their device. During registration, customers complete biometric authentication, One-Time Password verification and M-PESA PIN validation before accessing services.
The platform also supports NFC tap-to-pay functionality with additional safeguards, including PIN verification for unusual transactions. Users can personalise their homepage through customizable quick actions, while saved bills from Bill Manager migrate automatically. M-PESA Go customers also receive a tailored user experience.
My OneApp continues to integrate artificial intelligence through the enhanced Zuri chatbot, which responds to natural language requests. AI-powered payment features, including Scan-to-Pay and AI Pay, enable users to scan receipts and automatically extract payment details for faster transactions.
Following its launch, some customers, particularly those abroad or using roaming services, experienced login difficulties, forced sign-outs, and activation challenges that required mobile data rather than Wi-Fi. Subsequent software updates have improved login stability, restored favourites and enhanced performance when switching between networks.
Safaricom notes that My OneApp does not consume customers’ existing data bundles while using the application.
Customers are encouraged to download or update the latest version through the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store. Initial activation requires a compatible Android, iPhone or Huawei device, a registered Safaricom line set as the primary SIM, mobile data for setup, M-PESA PIN verification and biometric enrolment.
Although the legacy MySafaricom and M-PESA apps remain temporarily available, Safaricom plans to phase them out as customers transition to My OneApp
The company says it will continue to improve the platform based on user feedback, positioning the application as the central hub for all Safaricom digital services while encouraging customers to keep the app updated for the latest features, security enhancements, and performance improvements.
