Woodrow Named Africa Communication Agency of the Year 2026 by PRovoke Media

Kenya-based communications consultancy Woodrow has been named Africa Agency of the Year 2026 by PRovoke Media, one of the world’s leading authorities in the communications industry.

The recognition highlights Woodrow’s rapid expansion across Africa and its role in helping organisations address complex communication, policy, reputation and stakeholder engagement challenges across the continent.

PRovoke Media described Woodrow as “a different kind of communications firm for Africa,” noting its locally built approach, cross-border operations and focus on high-impact assignments shaped by Africa’s political and economic environment.

From Nairobi Startup to Pan-African Consultancy

Founded five years ago by Charlie Tarr, who has more than two decades of experience advising organisations across African markets, Woodrow has grown from its Nairobi base into a multi-market consultancy serving clients across the continent.

The firm currently has teams and partners operating in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Senegal and South Africa, delivering projects across 13 African countries.

Since 2024, Woodrow has more than doubled its revenue, expanded its regional delivery capacity and supported assignments that have reached global audiences of more than 70 million people across multiple markets.

Building Communications Solutions for Africa’s Realities

Charlie Tarr, Founder and CEO of Woodrow Communications, said the award reflects the company’s vision of creating strategic communications solutions designed around Africa’s unique operating environment.

“When we started Woodrow, we believed Africa deserved communications advice built for Africa’s realities, not imported templates. This recognition is a testament to our people, our clients and our belief that world-class strategic communications can be built from the continent and compete with the very best anywhere in the world,” Tarr said.

He added that the award represents a new phase of growth for the consultancy rather than an endpoint.

Supporting Global Organisations Across African Markets

Woodrow’s growth has been driven by its local-first operating model, which combines deep market knowledge, regional coordination and strategic advisory services.

The consultancy supports organisations including AGRA, Bupa Global, BIC, international foundations, investors and development institutions working across Africa.

Its services include strategic communications, reputation management, policy engagement, stakeholder relations and crisis communications.

Recognition of Team and Client Partnerships

David Karega, Head of East and Southern Africa at Woodrow, said the award reflects the contribution of the firm’s team and the trust placed in it by clients handling critical business and public affairs moments.

“This award belongs to the team and the clients who have trusted us with some of their most important moments. From major launches and investment announcements to reputation management, policy engagement and crisis situations, we have had the privilege of helping them achieve influence,” Karega said.

He added that the recognition demonstrates that globally competitive public relations expertise can be built in Nairobi and delivered across Africa.

Future Focus on Digital Influence and Stakeholder Engagement

Woodrow said it plans to invest further in digital influence, audience intelligence and integrated stakeholder engagement capabilities as organisations seek to navigate Africa’s changing media landscape.

Tarr noted that Africa remains central to the firm’s future, with opportunities emerging in sectors such as technology, investment, food systems, climate and economic transformation.

“Africa has never been a side conversation for us. It sits at the centre of our work and future,” Tarr said, adding that the company aims to help clients shape conversations, build influence and contribute to Africa’s growth.
