M-Shwari has launched the Smart Savers Campaign, an initiative aimed at encouraging Kenyans to embrace consistent saving habits while giving customers a chance to win cash prizes of up to KES 50,000.

The campaign rewards customers who save regularly through M-Shwari Lock Savings, with participants qualifying by making deposits consistently, achieving their savings targets, or emerging as the highest savers during the campaign period.

Encouraging a Culture of Consistent Saving

The campaign seeks to address a common challenge among many savers, postponing financial goals while waiting for the “right time” to start saving.

M-Shwari says building financial security is not only about earning more money but also about developing a habit of saving first and using tools that help individuals remain committed to their goals.

Through Lock Savings, customers can set aside money for a specific period, reducing the temptation to withdraw funds while allowing their savings to grow over time.

How Lock Savings Helps Customers Build Financial Goals

Unlike ordinary savings that may be easily accessed for everyday spending, M-Shwari Lock Savings allows customers to commit funds towards specific objectives.

The savings feature is designed to support customers working towards important milestones such as education expenses, business growth, home ownership and other personal financial goals.

By locking funds for a chosen period, customers can create a structured savings plan while earning interest on their deposits.

Customers to Win Cash Rewards of Up to KES 50,000

The Smart Savers Campaign will run for 12 weeks, with customers standing a chance to win cash rewards ranging from KES 2,000 to KES 50,000.

To qualify, customers are required to save consistently at least once a week for 12 weeks, set and achieve a Lock Savings target, or become the highest saver during the campaign period.

The rewards are intended to recognise customers who demonstrate commitment to building stronger financial habits.

Getting Started with M-Shwari Lock Savings

Customers can access Lock Savings through the M-Pesa menu by selecting M-Shwari, then choosing Lock Savings.

They can then select their preferred savings amount, set a lock period and begin their savings journey.

M-Shwari says customers do not need large amounts of money to start, encouraging individuals to begin with what they can afford and maintain consistency over time.

The Smart Savers Campaign comes as financial institutions continue to promote savings and investment habits among consumers.

By combining incentives with a structured savings approach, M-Shwari aims to help customers turn saving from an occasional activity into a long-term financial practice.
