The Kenya High Commission Pretoria has issued an advisory urging Kenyan nationals residing in South Africa to exercise heightened caution following recent demonstrations and isolated incidents affecting foreign nationals in parts of the country.
In a statement released Monday, the High Commission called on Kenyans to remain vigilant and avoid areas where protests or demonstrations may be taking place. The mission emphasized the importance of adhering to guidance issued by local authorities to ensure personal safety.
“Kenyans are advised to remain attentive to their surroundings and take necessary precautions during this period,” the advisory noted, highlighting growing concerns over sporadic unrest in certain regions.
The High Commission further urged nationals to carry valid identification and relevant documentation at all times, a measure aimed at facilitating identification and assistance if needed.
In the event of an emergency or security incident, Kenyans have been advised to promptly report the matter to the South African Police Service and notify the High Commission for appropriate support.
The diplomatic mission reassured citizens of its readiness to provide assistance, encouraging those in distress to reach out through its official communication channels.
The advisory comes amid increasing attention to the safety of foreign nationals in South Africa, with authorities closely monitoring the situation to prevent escalation and ensure public order.
