KCB and Visa Roll Out Business Credit Card to Boost SMEs in Kenya

KCB Bank Kenya, in partnership with Visa, has launched a Business Credit Card designed to help SMEs manage day-to-day operational costs, control expenses, and access flexible working capital.

The card provides a revolving credit line with up to 45 days of interest-free credit, giving entrepreneurs breathing room to manage tight cash flows and short-term financing needs.

Flexible Currency Options and Expense Controls

The business-focused credit card is available in both Kenya Shillings (KES) and US Dollars (USD), catering to SMEs with local and international payment needs.

It also offers enhanced expense management tools, including employee cards with customizable spending limits and monthly reconciliation statements, allowing business owners to maintain clear oversight of company spending.

Added Value Through Visa Commercial Offers

Cardholders will benefit from Visa commercial offers, including global merchant discounts and business-focused deals that support cost savings as SMEs advance their digital transformation initiatives.
Other benefits include seamless business payments, simplified reconciliation, and a clear separation between personal and business expenses.

Supporting SMEs as Economic Backbone

Speaking during the launch, KCB Bank Director of Retail Banking, Jane Isiaho, noted that access to finance remains one of the biggest barriers facing SMEs despite their central role in Kenya’s economy.
“Entrepreneurs normally operate on very tight cashflows with limited resources, poor visibility on business spend, difficulty separating personal and business expenses, and weak expense controls,” she said.
“By offering this solution, we will enable SMEs to secure financing for operational expenses, manage costs effectively, and meet their business targets.”

Visa Highlights Efficiency and Growth Impact

Visa East Africa Vice-President and General Manager, Chad Pollock, said the solution addresses critical payment inefficiencies faced by SMEs.
“By offering a faster and more efficient payment system to our SME customer base, we can solve their business needs, enabling them to prosper and run their businesses efficiently with limited downtime,” he said, adding that the innovation supports broader economic growth.

Building on KCB’s Digital Innovation Drive

The new business credit card builds on KCB’s ongoing digital innovation strategy, which focuses on delivering seamless and secure payment solutions tailored to evolving customer needs.

Recently, KCB partnered with Visa to launch a Tap to Phone contactless payment solution, enabling merchants to accept payments using NFC-enabled smartphones without additional hardware.

Strengthening Digital Payments Ecosystem

Through its partnership with Visa, KCB continues to strengthen digital platforms and expand payment support systems for businesses and merchants. The bank says the latest solution positions SMEs to streamline operations, improve financial discipline, and scale more sustainably in an increasingly digital economy.
