Nairobi’s historic Uhuru Gardens came alive on Saturday as members of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), their families, the diplomatic community, and civilians gathered to celebrate the annual KDF Cultural Day.

This year’s event, themed “Culture and Technology,” highlighted the role of innovation not only as a tool for progress but also as a means to preserve Kenya’s rich and diverse cultural heritage for future generations.

The celebration brought together personnel from the National Defence and Joint Command and Staff Colleges, many of whom swapped their service uniforms for traditional attire, blending military service with cultural pride.

Over 22 allied nations participated, showcasing their heritage through music, dance, traditional costumes, and local cuisines.

Speaking at the event, Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya urged military officers to embrace technology as a key tool for safeguarding cultural heritage.

Chief of Defence Forces General Charles Kaharîri echoed these sentiments, emphasizing innovation as critical in promoting heritage preservation, peaceful coexistence, and international unity.

As the rhythmic beats of traditional drums echoed through Uhuru Park and the celebrations drew to a close, one message was clear: heritage continues to be a powerful bridge that unites nations, strengthens service, and fosters a culture of peace.
