Airtel Money and DTB Partner to Boost SME Payments and Expand Financial Access
Airtel Money customers can now make direct payments to DTB Till Moja merchants following a new partnership between Airtel Money and Diamond Trust Bank (DTB), aimed at enhancing convenience and boosting financial inclusion for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
The collaboration also enables customers to deposit funds directly from their Airtel Money wallets into DTB accounts, simplifying how they send money, pay bills, and manage daily financial transactions.
Through the integration, users can now transact securely and instantly without visiting a bank branch or payment outlet. Additionally, customers will enjoy a 50% cashback in airtime on all Paybill payments, adding affordability to routine payments.
Airtel Money Kenya Managing Director Anne Kinuthia-Otieno said the partnership is part of the company’s commitment to creating a seamless financial ecosystem across the country.
“While customers could previously send funds to DTB accounts, this new feature extends that convenience to DTB Till Moja merchants, creating even more value for our customers and for small businesses,” she said.
She added that the move will accelerate financial inclusion by making transactions faster, simpler, and safer, especially for underserved communities that depend heavily on mobile money.
DTB’s Director of Retail Banking, George Otiende, noted that providing customers with multiple payment options remains central to the bank’s strategy.
“By expanding the ways our customers can pay, save, and transact, we are making banking more inclusive, flexible, and accessible for everyone,” he said.
The partnership is expected to benefit SMEs significantly by offering more flexible payment options and reducing barriers that have traditionally hindered access to financial services. Rural and low-income customers, who rely on mobile platforms for daily transactions, will also gain improved access to formal financial systems.
