In a proactive move to ensure police officers transition smoothly into retirement, the Kenya National Police DT SACCO, in collaboration with the National Police Service Commission (NPSC), successfully held a two-day Pre-Retirement Training Program for officers aged between 50 and 60 years.

The training, conducted from May 20th to 21st, 2025 at the College of Insurance in South C, Nairobi, brought together 150 officers drawn from various police services within the Nairobi region. The program focused on equipping officers with essential knowledge and tools to navigate the retirement phase with confidence and financial security.

Key topics addressed during the sessions included personal financial management, psychological wellness in retirement, estate planning, entrepreneurship, and adapting to lifestyle changes after service. Officers were also guided on how to identify and overcome common roadblocks to a successful retirement.

Speaking during the event, Kenya National Police DT SACCO CEO Mr. Solomon Atsiaya reiterated the SACCO’s long-standing commitment to the welfare of its members, stating, “Our mission extends beyond active service. We are here to ensure that every police officer is not only financially literate but also financially secure throughout retirement.”

The SACCO played a central role in the training by offering financial advisory services and showcasing tailored financial products designed for members nearing retirement. Also present were expert representatives from the Retirement Benefits Authority and the National Treasury Pension Department.

In his closing remarks, NPSC CEO Mr. Peter Leley emphasized the Commission’s dedication to preparing officers for life after service. “This training will help officers retire well with clarity, confidence and purpose,” he said.

The initiative marks a significant step in enhancing the financial resilience and mental preparedness of police officers, as both institutions strive to support their members through every stage of life.

Kenya National Police DT SACCO reaffirmed its commitment to being a dependable partner from active duty to retirement, ensuring that no officer walks the retirement journey alone.
