Safaricom has announced significant upgrades to its internet services for home and business customers, responding to the increasing demand for faster and more reliable connectivity. Among the new offerings is an ultra-fast 1000Mbps (Gigabit per second) Platinum plan, priced at KES 20,000 monthly, making Safaricom the first provider to deliver gigabit speeds for home internet in Kenya. This plan targets heavy users such as gamers, content creators, and those utilizing virtual reality applications.
All current home fibre customers will be automatically upgraded to the enhanced packages, allowing them to benefit from increased speeds without any additional effort.

To further enhance family connectivity, Safaricom has introduced the Family Share plan, which integrates mobile voice, data, SMS, and home internet into one package that can be shared with up to five household members. This plan offers a discount of up to 20 percent on the Bronze plan when compared to purchasing Fibre and voice/data plans separately, providing additional value amid challenging economic conditions.

Enhancements for Business Customers
For enterprise clients, Safaricom has revamped its Business Fibre plans, now offering speeds of up to 1 Gbps for medium and large enterprises, along with increased speeds for micro and small enterprises. These dedicated internet plans come with essential features such as 24/7 proactive monitoring, network visibility, burstability, backup options, static IP support, embedded security, and an impressive 99.99 percent uptime guarantee.
The new offerings for business customers include:
15Mbps shared plan: Ideal for micro businesses with up to five concurrent users, includes 5GB of mobile backup data and 400 voice minutes monthly.
-50Mbps shared plan: Designed for small enterprises accommodating up to 15 users, includes 15GB of mobile backup data and a Closed User Group voice plan allowing up to three users unlimited calls monthly.
– 100Mbps shared plan: Supports up to 50 users/devices, includes 15GB of mobile backup data and a similar voice plan for unlimited calls.
New customers on the shared business plans will also receive a one-time offer of 30GB mobile data and a free email and website domain for the first year.
Future Initiatives
These upgrades are part of Safaricom’s broader strategy to deepen engagement with customers as the company approaches its 25th anniversary. In line with this, Safaricom plans to conduct estate clinics, enhance capacity in congested areas, and provide competitive 4G and 5G options for homes in areas without fibre coverage.
Customers can purchase Home Fibre or 4G and 5G plans via the MySafaricom app, by dialing *400#, or by visiting Safaricom shops and dealer outlets. Business customers can access services through USSD *485#, Safaricom shops, the business website at business.safaricom.co.ke, or through the dealer network.
With the recent expansion of its fibre network by over 3,000 kilometers, Safaricom’s total coverage now exceeds 17,000 kilometers, enabling over 370,000 homes and 32,000 businesses to access fast and reliable internet.
