Willstone Homes celebrates milestone with three-in-one handover of estates

Willstone Homes, a leading real estate developer, marked a significant milestone with a grand celebration, delivering three estates: Windsor Anex 2, Batian and Windsor court 2 comprising over 100 housing units to proud homeowners. Speaking during the handover ceremony, Willstone Homes Managing Director Ejidio Kinyanjui described the occasion as a “total celebration” and a testament to perseverance and trust. “Today, we are handing over three estates, roughly over 100 units, to people who believed in us from the beginning and paid faithfully to ensure they get a home within the beautiful counties of Nairobi and Kiambu,” he said. The handover marked the company’s 16th, 17th, and 18th completed projects since its inception six years ago.

The Managing Director also reflected on the challenges faced by the real estate sector, particularly in 2024, citing rising taxes and increased costs of construction. “This year has not been the easiest to do business,” he admitted. “The decisions made by the national government regarding taxation have strained operations, but we remain hopeful that 2025 will bring new strategies and relief in government levies to ensure the sector continues to thrive.”

He emphasized the need for reciprocity from the county governments. “As developers, we pay levies and taxes, but we need infrastructure, roads, sewerage, and water to match the investment we are making. This partnership is essential to improve the lives of residents.”

The company’s portfolio is set to expand further, with over 1,500 housing units currently under construction across 10 ongoing projects. The MD expressed optimism about the future, reaffirming Willstone Homes’ commitment to delivering quality housing solutions and contributing to job creation for Kenyan youth.

The event highlighted the vital role played by the diaspora community in Kenya’s real estate sector. Among the beneficiaries was Philip Njema Kagishu, a Kenyan residing in Pennsylvania, USA, who gifted his mother a brand-new home. “Home is always best,” Kagishu remarked, describing his hard-earned investment as a life-changing achievement. “I bought this home last year, and today I am handing over the keys to my mother, who is a retired civil servant. I wanted her to enjoy her sunset years in a serene environment, and Willstone Homes provides just that.”

Reflecting on his experience, Kagishu urged fellow diaspora investors to exercise due diligence when choosing property developers, emphasizing the importance of transparency and track record. “Before investing, I had to check Willstone Homes’ previous projects, and I was satisfied. Today, I can see the fruits of my investment.”

Another notable investor was Angelina, a South Sudanese national who has called Kenya her second home for over a decade. Expressing gratitude, she shared her family’s long journey to achieving homeownership. “We faced many challenges, but we thank God we finally have our own home. Kenya has been a safe haven for us, and I’m proud to have invested here.”

The celebration was also an opportunity to address broader issues affecting the real estate sector. Stakeholders urged the government to review taxation policies and create an enabling environment to promote investments. “Most of our clientele are from the diaspora, and their trust keeps the business alive. By reducing costs and encouraging investment, we can create jobs, empower youth, and spur economic growth,” Kinyanjui noted.
