Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has condemned the unauthorized operation of an illegal police post in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County. Speaking in Mombasa during the inauguration of the newly constructed Mbaraki Police Station, Kanja stated that the establishment of the Kesses police post did not follow due process.
“We are looking into the matter to determine the best course of action,” said the IG, emphasizing the need for proper procedures in setting up security installations. Reports indicate that the illegal police post in Kesses was being operated by a civilian, raising serious concerns about law enforcement integrity and public safety.
Meanwhile, the residents of Mvita Sub-County in Mombasa are celebrating improved security services following the official opening of Mbaraki Police Station. The modern facility, funded by the Mvita National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), aims to enhance law enforcement operations in the area.
Kanja commended Mvita MP Mohammed Machele for spearheading the initiative, highlighting the importance of community policing in ensuring safety. He also addressed the issue of decent housing for police officers, pledging to engage the Housing and Planning Principal Secretary to find a lasting solution.
While acknowledging the dedication of police officers nationwide, the IG urged them to uphold integrity and professionalism in their duties. “Our officers play a crucial role in maintaining law and order. It is important that they carry out their mandate with the highest level of discipline and ethics,” he stated.
The unveiling of Mbaraki Police Station marks a significant step in strengthening security in Mombasa, even as authorities investigate the controversial police post in Uasin Gishu.
