DTB Introduces KES 20 Flat Fee on Pesalink Transfers

Diamond  Trust Bank (DTB) has introduced a simplified pricing model for Pesalink transactions, allowing customers to pay a flat fee of KES 20 for transfers above KES 1,000, while transfers of up to KES 1,000 will now be free.

The lender said the revised pricing is part of its efforts to make everyday banking faster, simpler, and more affordable for customers while supporting the wider push for digital payments in Kenya.

Shift from tiered pricing to a flat fee structure

Previously, Pesalink transactions were charged using a tiered pricing model across the banking industry, where fees varied depending on the amount transferred.

DTB noted that the new flat fee structure removes this complexity by giving customers a clear and predictable cost regardless of the size of the transaction, making it easier for individuals and businesses to plan their payments.

Boosting access to real-time bank transfers

Pesalink, operated by Integrated Payment Services Limited (IPSL) under the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA), enables real-time transfers between bank accounts across participating financial institutions.

The platform has become a key tool in advancing seamless and instant payments within Kenya’s banking ecosystem, helping customers move funds quickly and securely.

DTB says move responds to customer expectations

DTB Kenya Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Murali Natarajan said customers are increasingly looking for speed, simplicity, and affordability when making payments.

“With this new pricing, we are making instant bank-to-bank transfers more accessible, whether for small everyday transactions or larger payments. It is a meaningful step towards making digital payments work better for our customers,” he said.

He added that reducing transfer costs would encourage customers to use their bank accounts more actively for daily transactions instead of limiting them to occasional or high-value payments.

Industry collaboration seen as key to success

Murali also praised IPSL for strengthening the Pesalink platform and working with banks to improve its value to customers.

“We commend the efforts of IPSL in continuously strengthening the Pesalink platform and working with banks to enhance its value to customers. This collaboration is key to building a more efficient and inclusive payments ecosystem,” he said.

Service available across DTB banking channels

Customers can access the service through DTB’s mobile banking platform, internet banking, and branch network, allowing convenient and instant payments anytime and anywhere.

The bank said the revised pricing will further position bank-to-bank transfers as a practical and competitive option for everyday payments while reinforcing DTB’s commitment to delivering real value through simple and affordable banking solutions.
