The Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars wrapped up their week-long football camp in Spain on a high, as the boys’ team defeated hosts SD Huesca U20 with a commanding 4-2 victory on Sunday at the SD Huesca Academy Grounds.

The match kicked off after the girls’ team had completed a morning training session led by Juan Ramón Fung, one of the Academy’s coaches

Denzel Omollo, Armstrong Omondi, Brian Aroka and Baraka Rodgers scored for the Kenyan side, while the hosts replied through a Joseph Maosa own goal and a strike from Felipe Montero.

The result capped a memorable tour for the 24-player squad, comprising 12 boys and 12 girls scouted from Season Four regional and national competitions.

However, the tour began on September 6, 2025, with players engaging in elite training sessions, masterclasses and friendly matches at the world-class facilities of the Base Aragonesa de Fútbol, SD Huesca’s modern sports city.

They also attended a Segunda División match between SD Huesca and Málaga CF, alongside cultural experiences including sightseeing and city tours.

“This has been an incredible experience here in Spain, where football is such a big part of life. We have gained so much from this one-week elite camp, and I believe opportunities like these are crucial in shaping young players,” said All-Stars striker Baraka Rodgers.

Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, Fawzia Ali, praised the camp for giving Kenyan players invaluable exposure. “Our youngsters have trained with top coaches, experienced modern facilities and gained skills that will shape their football journey,” she said.

The Spain tour marked the culmination of Season Four of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament, an initiative that nurtures grassroots football talent across Kenya.

This season, over 10 players from the program have been scouted to join national teams and leading clubs, including Derrick Oketch and Austine Odongo (Shabana FC), Brighton Anyona (Gor Mahia), Brian Aroka (Tusker Youth), and Emily Morang’a (Kenya Police).
