Absa Bank Kenya Wins Best Bank in Green Financing Award

1 Mins read

Absa Bank Kenya has been named the Best Bank in Green financing during the Kenya Green Building Society (KGBS) Annual Conference & Green Expo 2025. This award is in recognition of the bank’s role and continued commitment to advancing sustainable and green financing in Kenya.

Speaking about the award, Charles Wokabi, the Vice President, Head of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs said that the recognition speaks to the strategy that the bank has established towards driving sustainable development through innovative financial solutions.

“Green building is a key part of our green financing agenda and we remain committed towards supporting communities, individuals and businesses transition to more climate resilient and energy efficient homes. As part of this commitment, we have channelled over Kes. 2 billion towards green building financing,” he said.

Earlier this year, Absa introduced Kenya’s first Eco Home Loan, a first-of-its-kind solution that offers up to 110% financing to unlock green home financing for Kenyans to build or upgrade their homes with energy-efficient and climate-resilient features.

The offering supports a range of green home improvements including waste management systems, solar energy and inverters, water recycling and purification systems and eco-friendly building materials.

The Kenya Green Building Society Annual Conference & Green Expo brings together stakeholders from the public and private sectors to champion sustainable real estate and climate-smart infrastructure while positioning Kenya as a regional hub for sustainable tourism and environmental and cultural preservation.
