Kayole Starlets forward Calta Nasambu has secured a move to Turkish women’s football club Haymana Spor Kulübü, opening a new chapter in her career after rising through Kenya’s grassroots football scene.
The 21-year-old left Kenya on October 19, 2026, to join the club, which competes in the Turkish Women’s Football Super League. Her contract runs until May 2027, with an option for an extension.
Nasambu’s move highlights the international opportunities available to young players through the Safaricom Chapa Dimba football tournament, where she first attracted attention with her performances for Barcelona Ladies SC in Laikipia.
“This is a dream come true. It has always been my prayer to play outside the country, and today, I am heading to Turkey,” Nasambu said.
She credited Safaricom Chapa Dimba for opening doors to international opportunities after the programme took her to Spain in 2025. She also thanked Barcelona Ladies SC and Kayole Starlets for supporting her development and giving her a platform to showcase her talent.
Born and raised in Sikhendu, Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, Nasambu began building her career at Barcelona Ladies SC under coach Emman Wafula Gullit before joining Kayole Starlets in February 2026.
She arrived at the Nairobi-based club alongside former Barcelona Ladies teammates Sonia Wambui and Naomi Nanjala. During her time at Kayole Starlets, she helped the team finish sixth in the Kenyan Women’s Premier League last season.
At Haymana Spor Kulübü, Nasambu will reunite with former Starlets teammates Lavin Achola and Euphrasier Shilwatso, who joined the Turkish side in August.
Her rise began during the fourth season of Safaricom Chapa Dimba, when she represented Barcelona Ladies SC and finished as the tournament’s top scorer. Her goals helped the team qualify for the national finals in Kisumu, where her performances earned her a place in the Chapa Dimba All-Stars squad.
The team travelled to Huesca, Spain, in 2025 for a week-long training camp. Nasambu also earned an opportunity to train with Huesca’s women’s first team after impressing during friendly matches played during the tour.
Kayole Starlets team manager Faith Odit praised Nasambu’s ability, particularly her ball control and possession skills, expressing confidence in her future as she takes the next step in her career.
Safaricom Chapa Dimba is a nationwide football tournament for young people aged 14 to 17. The programme gives emerging players opportunities to showcase their abilities, receive professional exposure and pursue careers in football.
