Family Bank Group has recorded a strong financial performance in the first half of 2026, with Profit After Tax rising 62 per cent to KSh3.7 billion from KSh2.2 billion reported in the corresponding period last year.
The lender attributed the growth to balance sheet expansion, increased lending and disciplined cost management as it continues implementing its 2025–2029 strategic plan.
Family Bank’s total assets grew 24 per cent to KSh238.9 billion by June 30, 2026, supported by increased lending to the private sector. During the period, the bank disbursed KSh35.6 billion to retail and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), while commercial customers received KSh15.2 billion.
Net Interest Income, a key driver of the bank’s earnings, increased 41% to KSh9.7 billion, largely supported by higher interest income from loans and advances to customers.
Customer deposits also expanded by 20 per cent to KSh180.2 billion, which the bank attributed to its network optimisation strategy and continued customer engagement.
“Our strong first-half of the year results reflect the resilience of our business, disciplined execution and continued focus on our customers,” said Family Bank CEO Nancy Njau.
She said the lender had strengthened its balance sheet while growing income streams and maintaining strong capital and liquidity positions.
Despite the rise in profitability, operating expenses increased 11 per cent to KSh7.4 billion, reflecting continued investment in technology, human capital and branch network optimisation.
The results come two months after Family Bank’s listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange in June 2026, marking a new phase in the lender’s growth and capital-market journey.
Njau said the bank would continue focusing on retail, MSME and commercial customers while investing in service delivery and technology.
The bank’s total capital and liquidity ratios remained above regulatory requirements, providing a strong foundation for continued expansion in the second half of the year.
Family Bank said its immediate focus remains on executing its five-year strategy while pursuing sustainable growth and deeper customer engagement across its key market segments.
