Circulating Protest Notice on Tourism CS Rebecca Miano Flagged as Fake

1 Mins read

A document circulating on social media claiming to be an official notice of an intended peaceful demonstration against Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has been flagged as fake after multiple inconsistencies and formatting errors were identified.

The document, titled “Notice of Intended Peaceful Assembly, Demonstration and Procession,” purports to have been addressed to the Nairobi Regional Police Commander. It alleges that a group of “concerned citizens” intends to stage a demonstration in Nairobi on July 3, 2026, over the performance and conduct of the Cabinet Secretary.

However, scrutiny of the notice has revealed several irregularities that cast doubt on its authenticity. These include broken and incomplete sentences, inconsistent formatting, and other drafting errors that are not typical of formal correspondence or legally required notices for public assemblies.

Due to these anomalies, the circulating document is being treated as unverified and misleading.

The emergence of the fake notice comes amid growing concerns over the spread of misinformation on social media platforms, where fabricated documents can quickly gain traction and create unnecessary public confusion.

Members of the public have been urged to exercise caution when consuming and sharing online content, particularly documents whose authenticity has not been verified.

They are encouraged to rely on official communication channels for accurate information and to avoid amplifying misleading or false claims that could cause public alarm.
