President William Ruto has made changes in the senior ranks of the Executive, reassigning Principal Secretaries Prof. Julius Bitok and John Lekakeny Ololtuaa in a move aimed at strengthening service delivery across key government departments.

In a statement issued on Tuesday evening by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, the President reassigned Prof. Julius Bitok from the State Department for Basic Education in the Ministry of Education to the State Department for Tourism under the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

At the same time, John Lekakeny Ololtuaa, who has been serving as Principal Secretary for Tourism, has been moved to the State Department for Basic Education in the Ministry of Education.

According to the statement, the reassignments take effect immediately.

The reshuffle was announced while President Ruto is currently at an official State Visit to Norway, where he is seeking to strengthen bilateral relations and expand economic cooperation.

Prof. Bitok, who previously served as Principal Secretary for Immigration and Citizen Services before his appointment to the Education Ministry, now takes charge of the tourism docket at a time when the government is intensifying efforts to grow visitor arrivals and tourism revenues.

Ololtuaa, a public servant with a background in tourism administration, assumes leadership of the Basic Education department, one of the most critical sectors in the country’s education system.

The government said the changes are part of ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and optimize performance in the delivery of public services.
