The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has reduced Diesel prices by KShs.10.06 per litre while sharply increasing Kerosene prices by KShs.38.60 per litre in a revised fuel pricing review set to take effect from May 19, 2026 to June 14, 2026.
In an addendum to the maximum retail petroleum pump prices released on May 14, 2026, EPRA said the adjustments followed a petition by public transport sector operators seeking intervention over the large price difference between Diesel and Kerosene.
According to the regulator, the wide price gap had raised concerns over the risk of fuel adulteration, where cheaper Kerosene could be illegally mixed with Diesel.
Under the revised pricing structure in Nairobi, the price of Super Petrol remains unchanged, while Diesel becomes cheaper and Kerosene records a significant increase.
EPRA noted that the updated petroleum pump price list and the detailed breakdown for Nairobi have been provided in Annex I and Annex II of the revised notice.
The latest changes are expected to impact transport operators, businesses and households that rely on Kerosene for cooking and lighting, even as authorities move to protect fuel quality and market stability.
